Location

Kau Hale Kalama Ohi is approximately 10 minutes from downtown Kapa’a and only 20 minutes away from Lihue’s international airport; easily accessible by car. Our charming cottage is on 6 (acres) of sacred ground, with a natural stream on one side and a nature preserve on the other. The privacy and quiet of this little piece of island paradise is the perfect setting for relaxation and restoration.

Hiking trails are directly accessible from Kau Hale. Golden sand beaches and the shimmering blue-green ocean, dazzling in the light of the tropical sun, are just a 10-minute drive away. Kayak lovers  have an abundance of opportunities to explore Kauai’s many rivers, rich with vegetation and dancing waterfalls.

Directions from the airport:

Turn right out of the airport onto Route 51 that will turn into Route 56 ( the highway). At the second traffic light turn left onto Route 580 (Kuamo’o Road). Go approximately 2 miles up the road (pass Opaeka’a Falls) and take the second turn on the right onto Route 581. The Wailua Country Store is on the corner of  Rte 580 and Rte 581 (Kamalu Rd). Go approximately 1⁄2 mile down Kamalu Rd. Just after you pass the Wailua Homesteads Park on your right, the road will go into an “S” turn.

You will soon come to a one lane cement bridge. After crossing this bridge, turn RIGHT at the first cement driveway just past our black hand painted mailbox. Go up the driveway some 300 yards, (past the yellow house on the right) until you see the first green cottage (also on your right) you can’t miss us.
